Tanner's Brown 3.9 5 8 8
Lovely colour Previous reviewers suggested colour difference between paint and sample, I did not find this It was exactly the colour I wanted November 24, 2014
Stunning and elegant I love this colour - it's like bitter dark chocolate and really brings my paintings alive! October 8, 2014
Finished Colour not as expected I bought this colour to match as closely as possible to my existing external paintwork, which is a very dark brown. I compared the colour chart to this and it was very close. The decider was the description which said almost black. Perfect, except having applied the recommended F&B dark tones undercoat and two coats of the Tanners Brown the finished result was no where near what was expected. In fact it looked like a dark plum colour. I phoned F&B who asked that I return the paint for testing. Alas, they said this was within tolerance. I am extremely disappointed and needless to say having wasted over £100 on two tins of paint (undercoat and topcoat) I shall not be buying any external F&B paint in the future. June 26, 2014
Great color saturation and tone Great color saturation and rich, full tone - in certain lighting conditions has a slight dark purple underlying sheen. Painter mentioned that the paint coat dried extremely fast - which in some cases (painting doors etc.) can be challenging and requires good skills to apply a smooth, even coat. All in all great product May 15, 2014
An interesting dark grey/brown I have painted bookcases and a console table in this colour. It is an interesting, very dark grey with a slight hint of brown and purple. It looks great with the Cornforth White walls. More grey than it appears on the colour chart. December 7, 2013
Looks lovely but not very brown We were having real difficulty finding floor paints that weren't either black, red or white until we discovered that F&B do their whole range as floor paints. Bought a tester of this and the mahogany for our wooden floors, the mahogany was far too brown so we choose this one which comes out more of purplish/charcoal grey - nothing like the colour block in the shop but it looks fantastic and was really easy to apply. Would definitely recommend but try the testers first! August 27, 2013
Lovely finish, but colour not as expected We saw a sample block in this colour at a Farrow and Ball supplier, and bought a sample pot which we tested in the location where the main coats were to be applied. The colour was a dark, rich brown as described above, however, when we bought a large tin and applied it, the resulting colour is more of a blueish/purpleish shade, and doesn't complement the other colours in the room so well. The undercoat we used was that suggested by Farrow and Ball. Otherwise, the dead flat finish we chose is really lovely for our woodwork- such a shame about the colour itself. March 2, 2013
Lovely floor paint but the wrong colour I have given the paint 3 stars because the colour that arrived was not the colour on the card or the colour of the previous oil based floor paint. I have spoken to a very nice man in the technical area and await a replacement pot. The half coat that I did apply went on beautifully and it is lovely not to have to use white spirit to clean the brushes. October 29, 2012
