love love love it..... after deliberating on the dark colour I absolutely love it and have had so many lovely comments...railings is a favourite!!! June 11, 2014
This colour set a trend I chose railings in eggshell for the front door of my Georgian townhouse in Shrewsbury. I wanted to be a bit different so walked the town centre to check that there were no other doors painted this colour and there were none. The result was stunning and it received many compliments from people passing by. My only complaint is that it is such a good colour that there are now a number of front doors appearing in this colour in the town centre. May 10, 2014
very pleasing! Used this in Dead Flat on old shelves which we've mounted on walls in our kitchen, dining area. The walls are Reading Room Yellow. It looks perfect & we get endless praise from friends who love the effect. I don't know about the bronze tones mentioned in the description? Don't see it! But it's a lovely soft black; not grey, not black. It has depth & I love it! March 17, 2014
Nice blue-black colour We used this product to paint the inside of our fireplace black -- we wanted a muted black, not too grey and not too black. I think this product is called "Railings" to evoke the colour you see on faded painted black iron rails, seems very successful. I would recommend using this colour for other places you want a subtle black. We'll be using the rest of the large can on our two upstairs decorative Victorian fireplaces as well. March 9, 2014
Always A long term favourite, striking in a period property, goes with anything! The little black dress of the paint world! February 27, 2014
very dissappointed I have used farrow and ball before because of there excellent quality, however this particular colour is very disappointing.I followed the guidelines used an undercoat which was fine when I went to use the railings colour it streaked with the brush ,I then used the roller which the store recommended and that left the door with tiny bubbles all over and by the way this was gloss paint .the colour is also wrong it should be dark grey its more like a blue colour.im so annoyed now I will have to sand it down and start again.Im going to use a different brand next time. Awful finish I chose to paint my front door with exterior eggshell and wish I hadn't. I've used Farrow and Ball paints for several years and understand some of the quirkiness of the product but this was a severe let down. I followed the information sheet posted on the site and even watched the video. I sanded down the door, used the correct undercoat - which went on smoothly - gently sanded that down then applied the top coat. The first layer dried with prominent brush strokes showing. I painted a second coat but that didn't help; you could still see prominent ridges from twelve feet away. The day wasn't hot, the door wasn't in direct sunlight yet there was no 'flow' to the paint. I ended up having to sand the door down for a third time and then repainted with the Railings gloss. It looks better but nowhere near what I wanted as I simply didn't have time to start the door from scratch again. A waste of money and, more importantly, an inordinate amount of my time. Very disappointing. September 4, 2013
