Used on our front door....
With absolutely great results. Used on steel front door and achieved the colour and results I was looking for. I have found Farrow and Ball paints easy to use once you understand application process ( which is pretty straightforward ). These paints dry to a beautiful finish every time.

Modern Emulsion sheen distracts from the colour
We have used acres of PGR for years. With some reservations, this time we opted for Modern Emulsion.
The dead flat Estate Emulsion brings fabulous depth to any colour, viewed from any angle. The compromise is that the flat finish will not tolerate any accidental marking (or attempts at cleaning) especially in a darker colour like PGR. Furthermore, if the environment is less than perfect (e.g. subject to the slightest condensation) the dark flat finish will bloom without hesitation.
Modern Emulsion resolves the physical compromises of Estate Emulsion, but the noticeable sheen hugely detracts from the depth of colour and its ability to disguise an imperfect hair plaster substrate. The qualitative compromise is acute when viewed along a wall towards a light source. In this situation you mostly see glare, not a flat colour.
In summary, if the situation allows use flat Estate Emulsion without hesitation. F&B flat emulsion is consistently the best paint of its kind, with the added benefit of archive availability. Most paint companies don't maintain a sound archive or manufacturing consistency in the way F&B have over the years.
If a more durable finish is required, Modern Emulsion over-delivers in that it is closer in finish to a dedicated bathroom paint. Many good quality trade emulsions strike a more subtle balance between flatness and toughness, but obviously achieving accurate colour reproduction is a bit of a gamble and almost impossible in darker tones.
So go on F&B, give us a product that sits more comfortably between Estate Emulsion and Estate Eggshell. Maybe even call it Modern Emulsion. We'd buy lots of it.

Several years ago, I painted my dining room this colour. It is amazing! The room is warm and inviting and the depth of colour achievable using Farrow and Ball estate emulsion makes all the difference in the world. A couple of years later, I migrated the colour to one focal wall in the adjacent living room and it really made that room pop.
From now on, any dining room in any house I inhabit will be in this colour.

Garage door perfection
I used this on my garage door to balance out a white house with base of terra cotta bricks and some deep brown cedar trim. I panicked when I first opened the tin and applied the gloss paint because it looked pink! But I went ahead and am SOOOO glad, because it dried the best subtle red to pull together all the colours of the front of the house. Very happy with the results!
